OUR PANGALANES CALYPSO GETAWAYS
A world apart; strewn with elephant ears, ravinalas, the emblem of our island passion, a flora and fauna five stars. The Canal des Pangalanes has a history, its construction dates back to the French colonization, initiated in 1896 by General Gallieni in order to facilitate administrative and military controls of the region. Gently, to the rhythm of the «mora mora», we will head towards Ankanin’ny nofy. Ankanin’nofy literally translated by «Dream Nest», at the heart of our program, visiting the Palmarium park, we will go to meet the lemurs Varecia, Indri Indri, Macaco between canal and Indian Ocean, the nature connection is more than perfect.
A very fascinating lemur, it is the largest of the lemurs, after the Indri indri still called
« Babakoto » is a Malagasy language which can reach one metre. It has a magnificent coat, longer and more tufted than that of other lemurs. You can photograph very closely, amateur photographers or professionals, this reserve is the flagship visit of the Canal des Pangalanes.
An endearing culture of ours, our fishermen Betsimisaraka will share with you, their know-how, we will discover their fishing equipment, in a word their daily life. DAY 1 : TAMATAVE/ TAPAKALA/ ANKANIN’NOFY (60km/ 3h of motor canoe) :
8.30 am at the Chrismiatours Mada agency, we will leave with the guide ChrismiaToursMada for a trip to the rhythm of the «Moramora» on board the metallic canoe Calypso. Departure from the ambatovy deck, boarding on board, we will meet traditional pirogues, motor pirogues, or bamboo rafts loaded with goods: brèdes, wood, coals, fruits of the season. After 35 minutes, we will stop in the fishing village of Ambodisaina, immersion in country betsimisaraka; a small village decorated with legends where we will discover a welcoming and smiling population, a way of life where time seems to have stopped. The Betsimisaraka culture gives importance «to the cult of ancestors» our guide will not fail to tell you «sacred trees». Visit of the sacred trees as an option.. We will take back the canoe.
Lunch by the lake in Antanifotsy. Picnic lunch prepared by Magneva. We will cross several lakes before arriving at the lake Ampitabe, where Ankanin’ny nofy is nestled.. Arrival in Ankanin’ny Nofy, installation in the bungalows built with local materials. A few steps from your bungalow terrace overlooking the lake, the beautiful Ampitabe Lake.
Dinner and overnight at the Palmarium Lodge.
DAY 2 : ANKANIN’NOFY/ TAPAKALA/ TAMATAVE (60km/ 3h of motor canoe) :
After breakfast, wewill visit the reserve Palmarium, animals in freedom, which will delight young and old: Hybrid macaques, indri indri… Not to mention our vari!
We will then take the metal canoe to reach the village of Andranokoditra. At the entrance of this beautiful village, necklaces with seeds of all colors, the purchase of these beautiful souvenirs will contribute to the development of working women in this small village. The scent of spices: pink berries, pepper, cinnamon and essential oils will awaken your senses. Visit the railway station still functional. We will go back to Ankarefo. Picnic lunch by Magneva. Swimming. Return on Tamatave, arrival at the bridge transfer to the agency Chrismiatours Mada.
