The Canal des Pangalanes is an enfilade of lakes and canals, from Tamatave to Farafangana, over a length of about 650 km: the longest canal in the world!
From Mananjary to Mahanoro v
you will board a motorized canoe to discover the Wild South. In Mananjary begins this cruise, we forget our watches and we indulge in the rhythm of the «mora mora» literally translated «gently». Long live the adventure!
Two nights in bivouac, one in a village and the other between Canal & Ocean. A cruise, meetings, these visits of villages on foot will be punctuated with laughter, of «manakory eh» hello, and memories, here amateurs or professional photographers will take time for the image; magnificent landscapes to the gradient of green, pandanus, elephant ears, rice paddies adorn this part of the channel of pangalanes. You will also enjoy these daily scenes of the ethnic «antambahoka», each ethnic group its culture and customs.
One night in Mahanoro, a small friendly village for a day of relaxation and rest.
From Vatomandry to Tamatave, here begins «the luxury cruise», the must of our package. The only floating hotel of the Canal des Pangalanes: Queen Tina.
We are looking forward to an exceptional cruise. With 04 spacious cabins with private bathrooms, on board the Queen Tina we find our comfort and a crew to the little care.
You would also like the gastronomy on board, our Chef Ando will not fail to share his passion for cooking and make you taste these tasty dishes based on fresh local products with a touch of originality «Malagasy». A real treat for the eyes, a true delight for your taste buds.
Another ethnic group is to be discovered in this other part of the Pangalan Canal: the Betsimisaraka. In Andranokoditra, around a campfire, this exchange with the folk dance troupe Nolah songs and dances will delight more than one.
We will also visit the Palmarium Reserve, here cohabit lemurs macaco, indri indri, varecia a true happiness for the little ones but also adults, these lemurs are our pride in eastern Madagascar.

DAY 1 : MANANJARY_ MAHELA_ AMBOHITSARA _AMBAHY_ NOSY VARIKA (06 hours of boat):
After breakfast at the hotel, the cruise leaves Mananjary to reach the village of Mahela. Passage to the lake Anilavinany with its picturesque coastal village overhung by coconut trees worthy of a postcard. Visit of «the ink of Jean Laborde» then we discover these typical villages of the Antambahoka, an ethnic group that practices the «Sambatra» collective circumcision ceremony celebrated every 7 years. Meeting with the local population, then we board the boat to make about 3 hours of navigation north to reach the village of Ambohitsara to visit the mysterious «Vatomasina» (sculpture of white elephant, unknown in Mada however and whose origin is contradicted). Visit of Tragno Be literally translated big house, where a king always remains to lead the traditional community. Visit the CSB2 health center bush dispensary, where you could make your useful donations (medicines, clothes, supplies). A meeting with the local population always at the rendezvous on all stops.
Lunch on board and continue sailing to Nosy Varika where we will spend the night in bungalows.
Dinner at the hotel & overnight stay in bivouac.
DAY 2 : NOSY VARIKA _ ALANAMPOTSY_ ASOHIHY (06 hours of boat) :
After breakfast at the hotel.
We board to arrive at our first stop for a swim in shallow crystal clear water. You will be able to observe birds such as: wasps, gobemouches, parrots, raptors, red-billed ducks, water hen, sultan hen and kingfisher that populate the bushes of the Canal. On the flora side, you will appreciate the «pandanus», the ravinalas, or traveller’s tree, the ears of elephants or aquatic banana trees, which border the banks and invade the canal, not to mention the water hyacinths and water lilies. Departure towards the north of the canal of pangalanes crossing wider, then narrow areas, later we will cross the large lake of Alanampotsy with the small village that bears the same name.
We have lunch on board before arriving at the beach of Asohihy where we will camp for this night.

Candlelight dinner + overnight in a tent on a coastal dune between Lake and Ocean.
DAY 3 : ASOHIHY _ AMBODISOVOKA_MAHANORO (4 hours of boat) :
Breakfast on board early departure. A coastal forest that serves as an anticyclonic shield for villages is located in the western part of the Pangalanes Canal.
We take the ink for Mahanoro, crossing the lakes Mangoro and Andranobe before reaching Ambodisovoka. We will make stops to visit the spice plantations: vanilla, pepper, cloves etc…
Arrival in Ambodisovoka, you will discover an endearing and welcoming population, traditional houses of the east coast and its crafts.
Snack before arriving at Mahanoro.
Lunch at Mahanoro Restaurant.
Dinner and overnight at the Eden Lodge.
DAY 4 : MAHANORO _ VATOMANDRY on board of Tina Queen ANDEVORANTO (3h of navigation):
After breakfast, you will leave Mahanoro to reach Vatomandry where you take the departure to embark on board the unique floating hotel of the pangalanes Queen Tina.
Lunch on board.
Navigation to Andevoranto, we forget the watches and adapt to the rhythm of the «mora mora» slowly. Andevoranto it is here that was the old port, and once «the slave market» hence the name Andevoranto. Creole boxes testify to the colonial past of the place, stories and legends are not lacking and taboos or «fady» must be respected. A village that will enchant more than one.
Dinner and overnight on board the Queen Tina.
DAY 5 : ANDEVORANTO _ AMBILA _ ANKANIN’NOFY (3:30 of navigation ) :
Breakfast on board.
We leave for Ankanin’nofy literally translated as «dream nest». Stop at Ampasindava village visit.
Lunch on board.
In the afternoon we will arrive at Ankanin’nofy we will stop on a deserted cove you could sip your cocktail while admiring the sunset.
Campfire and dinner.
Overnight on board the Queen Tina.
DAY 6 : ANKANIN’NOFY TAPAKALA_ TAMATAVE (3:00 of navigation) :
Breakfast
Visit of the park Palmarium in the morning, here cohabit indri indri lemurs macaques and varecias a real happiness for the little ones but also the adults.
Lunch on board.
It is at the Queen Tina dock in the grounds of the Eden Garden that our cruise ends.
Transfer by car starex 4×4 to Tamatave.
