Heading north from Madagascar. From Diego Suarez to Nosybe, a circuit combining discovery, change of scenery, a touch of adventure and relaxation. Bay of Diego is where our program begins, facing this volcanic rocky islet, we can only be admiring of this sugar loaf that gives us water to the mouth to leave for the Amber Mountain; where we will discover a lush forest of the national park. The palm trees, waterfalls, lemurs, chameleons and birds is Joffre Ville, one of the entrance doors to the Amber Mountain.
The red Tsingys a natural phenomenon in the form of glowing canyons. Thus an immense and majestic forest of stones, this coral reef out of the water carved by the wind: the tsingys of the Ankarana.
As nature combines with man, we will discover the plantations of cocoa, coffee, pepper, ylang ylang and vetiver in the village of Ambanja.
We end with a dream seaside parenthesis: NosyIranja two islands connected by a tongue of land… Ranked one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world, this small paradise called the island of turtles, by its atmosphere will mark its unforgettable colors, its authentic fishing village, as well as its small school perched on the hill of the lighthouse.

DAY 1: PARIS / ANTANANARIVO (international flight):
Airport pickup and hotel check-in.
Optional: Visit to the earth brick factory & a stroll along the dyke where the craft market is located. This option will depend on the arrival time.

DAY 2: ANTANANARIVO / DIEGO (domestic flight):
Breakfast.
Meet at your hotel and fly to Diego-Suarez.
Upon arrival in Diego, welcome by our guide from ChrismiatoursMada and transfer to the Grand Hôtel de Diego.
Lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, we set off to explore and appreciate the northernmost city of Madagascar. Antsiranana, also known as Diego Suarez, is the capital of northern Madagascar. The second-largest bay in the world after Rio de Janeiro. We begin our city tour at the town hall and the Music Square. Next, we head to Place Joffre to enjoy a panoramic view of the port of Diego Suarez. During the tour, we will see monuments that reflect the city’s colonial past. Our guide will share the history of these sites. We then continue to “Pain de Sucre,” located in Andovobazaha Bay, also known as the Bay of the French. Pain de Sucre is considered a sacred site where traditional ceremonies called fijoroana are regularly performed. To conclude, we will visit the “Bazary,” or Diego market, where we can discover local products typical of the region. After the visit, return to the hotel.

DAY 3: DIEGO – The 3 Bays by 4×4
Breakfast. Departure at 08:00 AM for the discovery of the Three Bays and Ramena Beach. On our way, we will encounter magnificent baobabs, unique in the world, including the oldest one in the region. The Three Bays unfold along stunning white sand, with crystal-clear, azure blue waters perfect for swimming. The Bay of Sakalavas, the Bay of Dunes, and the Bay of Pigeons offer a variety of must-try activities: funboarding, kitesurfing, and windsurfing. Picnic lunch. On our way back, we will explore the colonial heritage, including old cannons, a former military camp (Orangea), Cap Miné, and the lighthouse. A must-see in Diego, this easy walk showcases these three breathtaking bays, discreet chameleons, fishing villages, an emerald sea, white sandy beaches, and a fascinating piece of history.

DAY 4: DIEGO – JOFFREVILLE 42km/1h15 Montagne d’Ambre
After breakfast,, we depart early in the morning for Joffreville. Joffreville is located at the gateway to Montagne d’Ambre National Park. Accompanied by our local park guide, we set off on a forest hike.
Created in 1958, Montagne d’Ambre National Park is situated in the heart of a volcanic region. Rightly considered a “biological treasure,” it is covered in lush vegetation, including canarium trees, ficus, and orchids, and draped in a thick green mantle of rainforest. Montagne d’Ambre is a paradise for botanists.
For the lucky ones, this is where the world’s smallest chameleon, Brookesia Minima Tuberculata, can be found. We will also encounter crowned lemurs, fulvus lemurs, and more. The park is known as the true water tower of the Antsiranana region, and we will come across several waterfalls, including Antomboka Falls, the Sacred Waterfall, and others.

DAY 5: JOFFRE VILLE – RED TSINGY / ANKARANA
Breakfast. Early departure to visit the Red Tsingy, a unique natural phenomenon formed by fairy chimney-like erosion. These ephemeral, fantastical red formations are the result of wind and rain shaping the landscape. This breathtaking site is unique to Madagascar. Get your cameras ready to capture stunning shots. Picnic lunch. Then, continue towards Ankarana. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel..

DAY 6: EAST ANKARANA – BENAVONY CIRCUIT (Duration: 5 to 6 hours)
Breakfast.
The day will be dedicated to a guided exploration of a geological marvel: the “Grey Tsingy”. We will head to the eastern part of Ankarana National Park, a limestone massif featuring sharp peaks and deep canyons that shelter a variety of endemic plant and animal species.
In this eastern section of the park, we will discover the legendary “suspension bridge”, crossing through the dry and arid forest. This area is adorned with pachypodium plants, crowned lemurs, and baobabs.

DAY 7: ANKARANA / AMBANJA
After breakfast, we will take National Road 6 to reach Ambanja, a town built on the banks of the Sambirano River, where cocoa and cassava plantations blend with coffee and ylang-ylang fields. Upon arrival in Ambanja, we will check in at the hotel.
Let’s set off for a visit to Ambanja, a key economic hub of the region and a true water reservoir that irrigates the entire valley.

DAY 8: AMBANJA / Millot Estate / Bon Pères Waterfall
After breakfast at 7:30 AM, we will take a two-hour guided tour of the Millot Estate cocoa plantation. A local expert will reveal the secrets of cocoa processing before it is transformed into Madagascar’s delicious chocolates. After visiting the cocoa plantation, we will head to the Bon Pères Waterfall. This journey will take us through the upper Sambirano region, with its vast cocoa plantations, rice fields, and small villages. We will then continue to the village of Ambobaka, renowned for traditional medicine. A lineage of healers practices ancestral knowledge there, using medicinal plants and various massage techniques. After exploring the garden where these medicinal plants grow, we will board a traditional rowing canoe along the Ramena River. A one-hour walk through rocks and trails will lead us to the Bon Pères Waterfall. At noon, we will enjoy a picnic lunch, followed by an afternoon of swimming under the falls and in the natural pools. On our way back, we will cross the Ambanja Bridge to admire the sunset hues over the Sambirano River.

DAY 09: Ambanja/ Ankify (35 min by car) / Nosy Iranja (1h30 by boat):
Breakfast.
At 6 AM, we will take the road to the port of Ankify. Upon arrival in Ankify, we will board Mouzée’s boat to reach the island of Nosy Iranja. It consists of two islands connected by a white sandbank visible at low tide. It is also called Turtle Island because sea turtles often come to lay their eggs there.Lunch. In the afternoon, swimming.

DAY 10: Nosy Iranja / Nosy Be (1h30):
After breakfast, departure for the scented island of Nosy Be. Transfer to Zahir Lodge hotel.
